The Kampersrus area is blessed with a wonderful climate, not too cold during winter and generally no excessively hot summers.
Marepe Mountain View is based above 1,000 meters, so the weather in the mountains is slightly more unstable than the rest of the region. Usually, we have more windy conditions, especially when the weather changes from warm to cool. If the wind comes from the south, direction Mariepskop, it can be particularly bad stormy weather. This usually occurs around 5PM until the next morning so be prepared for windy nights. It’s the magic of the mountain weather!
Also, we are blessed with more rains than the surrounding areas. This results in beautiful lush green surroundings.
In summer and winter time we get sun before the lowlands and it starts to heat up much earlier so we get a lot more sun hours than others. Our sunrises are absolutely spectacular and a reason to set your alarm!
Mountain weather can change quickly. We will inform our guests in time if extreme weather conditions can be expected.
Kampersrus is based in a low-risk malaria area. Contact your doctor regarding medical advice. Residents in Kampersrus do not generally use malaria medication and our clinics are very experienced and of high standard. Thanks to the altitude we experience less mosquitos. Our villas are equipped with mosquito nets, air conditioning and a fan. We have complimentary bug spray in the rooms.
The area around Kampersrus does have potholes but is generally well tarred making it an easy drive.
The last stretch of road up the mountain is extremely steep . Caravans, trailers and campers won’t make it up the 2-track road, even though it is a paved road. Lower clearance sports cars also won’t be able to drive up. We advise to come with a high clearance vehicle but low clearance cars can drive up as long as you take it slow. Alternatively, we can collect you at a location of choice in the area where you can safely store your car during your stay.

Regrettably no.
Yes, we have a supermarket on the main road in Kampersrus, a 7-minute drive from the villa. You can also find a butchery, bakery, liquor store and gas station close by.
Even though the villas are self-catering with everything you need to prepare your own food (convection microwave, gas stove, braai and PizzaBraai, fully equipped kitchen) we do understand the need for indulgence and relaxation and not worrying about food preparation is one of those things. Marepe Mountain View therefore offers fully catered services: from a full drinks list to breakfast packages, snack platters, fresh pizza for the braai, BBQ platters and even a private chef. All needs to be pre-booked 24 hours in advance (the private chef preferably 2 weeks in advance).
